It's hard to say whether the inspiration came from the white powdery sand and impossibly blue waters of Grand Cayman's Seven Mile Beach, or the unique symmetrical patterning of Cayman's turtle population or even the shops and cafés of cosmopolitan Camana Bay. All of the above and more, according to Canadian fashion designer Tosca Delfino, who will launch her new Cayman Islands swimwear collection this fall, stopping off in Oakville to provide a sneak peek ““ just in time for your winter getaway in the sun. Her collection of light, airy colours and incredibly unique patterns bring a fresh and fabulous feel to swimwear that looks great, both in, and out of the water. Born in Toronto, now based in Milan, Delfino brings glamour, sophistication and a global sensibility to her designs. Her pieces consist of tribal-chic patterns with an indie twist, and her own travel and cultural experiences create a storyline for each of her classic trends. The fashion community was buzzing when the Tosca Delfino/Cayman Islands “swim team” first walked the runways of Fashion Week back in October, and now as part of Taste magazine's unique dinner series, Milan and Cayman are coming direct to you at a soon to be announced evening in downtown Oakville. Delfino returns home to Canada this month to select a Canadian model to be the “The Face of Tosca Delfino”. She'll be holding a casting call at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto before jetting off with a crew to do a photo shoot in Grand Cayman that will ultimately be featured in her swimwear Look Book for the season.
