Purina Walk for Dog Guides
The Purina Walk for Dog Guides is a national fundraising walk in support of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. It is a family and dog friendly event where 100 per cent of the funds raised go directly towards providing specially trained Dog Guides to Canadians with physical and medical disabilities at no cost. Go online to find and register for a walk in your city.

Relay For LifeӬ
The national signature event of the Canadian Cancer Society for the past 16 years, Relay for Life raised $34 million in Ontario last year alone to help in the fight against cancer. Walk or run your way around the track with friends, family and coworkers in this fantastic event meeting individual and group goals while raising funds for vital support services and Canadian cancer research. Events will take place in Burlington at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, in Oakville at Coronation Park and in Mississauga at Erindale Secondary School. Go online for more information or to register.

Veterans Salmon Derby
Show your support towards veterans and spend a fun-filled day on the shores of Lake Ontario with this fishing and boating derby hosted by HAVET Inc., a non-partisan organization that fosters supportive relationships between business, the public and Canadian Armed Forces Veterans in need. Be sure to stay until the end to see who wins the weigh-in for biggest fish caught followed by an awards ceremony for the Vets and a BBQ.

The Co-Operators Oakville Family Ribfest
Eat all the ribs you can handle from several different ribbers at this Rotary sponsored fundraising event featuring live music from dozens of great bands, a free Kid's Play Zone, artisans, crafters, shopping in the Marketplace, a midway carnival and lots more. Pets are not allowed, there will be a Barks and Rec doggie day care near the main gates. Admission is free, parking available for free at the Oakville Town Hall or for $10 at White Oaks Boulevard with a free shuttle that will take you to the event grounds. Secret Gardens of Oakville
A self-guided tour of Oakville's private gardens is sure to delight and inspire both new and experienced gardeners alike. Hosted by the Oakville Horticulture Society, tickets are available for $15 each or $25 for two beginning in May at Agram Garden Centre, Ann's Flower Boutique, Bulow Garden Centre (both locations), Cudmore's Garden Centre, Heaven Scent Flowers and Sage Gardening. Tickets will also be available at the OHS Plant Sale, taking place on Saturday, May 21 at Munn's United Church.

Burlington Canada Day Celebration
Listed as one of Festivals & Events Ontario's Top 100 events, Burlington's celebration will feature stilt-walking buskers, face painting and balloon animals, a Scholars in Collars dog show, multiple performances on the main stage including the White Pine Dancers, Chinese Performing Arts Society, Symphony on the Bay and more, plus a special performance by headliner Alee. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with yoga then gets into full swing at noon and closes with a fireworks display starting at 10 p.m.
