The world's longest recreational trail is set to reach completion in 2017. The Great Trail will consist of nearly 24,000 kilometres of multiuse trails to be walked, cycled, paddled and skied, taking trail-goers through urban and rural landscapes from wilderness to greenways, waterways and roadways. A community-based project, each section of the trail is owned, operated and maintained by local organizations, provincial authorities, national agencies and municipalities throughout the country.
