Toronto's historic Omni King Edward is currently undergoing a $6.5 million restoration of its Crystal Ballroom, following just one year behind the $40 million renovation of the overall property. Home to the city's most prestigious social functions from the early 1920s through the 1970s, the Crystal Ballroom restoration will be heavily influenced by its original interior. The ornate mouldings, coffered ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of the city will remain as central features while mosaic tile floors in the pre-function space, updated chandeliers and wall sconces with crystal elements will bring a contemporary feel to the room. A new permanent bar will be introduced with timeless details that will reflect on the original era and a new carpet will feature designs reminiscent of the early 1920s. The official grand opening of the Crystal Ballroom is slated for early 2017.
